Last week, we discussed 3 Deep Conditioners for Natural Hair, but what do you do after you’ve deep conditioned and still need to retain moisture? The answer is, a Leave-In conditioner! I know, some of you may think this step is unnecessary and a waste of money, and believe me, I thought the same thing until I realized how beneficial it was!! I used to find myself constantly moisturizing my hair, day after day, just for it to be, “brillo pad” dry at the end of each day. But, when I began using a leave-in conditioner, I noticed I was using less moisturizing product throughout the week and wash day became a breeze! It was like the leave-in conditioner melted all the knots and tangles away! It used to take me an hour to detangle my hair, but now I have no problem. So say buh-bye to combing out clumps of hair out of your head and hello to products that will literally change your life! Here are 3 products that are great for every hair type and has helped me on my natural hair journey.
3 Leave In Conditioners for Natural Hair
“Karen’s Body Beautiful Sweet Ambrosia Leave-in Conditioner works best for thick kinks or curls, relaxed, color treated or dry hair. Apply a generous amount to hair when damp or dry to refresh and moisturize. Can be used several times a week or daily. Use before you apply heat (flat ironing, blow drying, etc.), since this product is water based. KBB products do not contain sulfates, parabens, mineral oil, paraffin, DEA, or artificial color.”
My Experience: First off, let’s talk about the scent. OMG, AMAZING!! It really does smell like natural fruit and doesn’t have an artificial product stench. It really smells NATURAL! But, KBB is known for providing ALL natural ingredients, so that’s no surprise. Since this leave in conditioner is water based, I find myself having to use it several times a week, which can be good and bad. Good, because I know my hair is getting thoroughly moisturized every time I use it, bad because, I’m a lazy natural! I like to set it and forget it!!! BUT, this is the best water based leave-in I’ve used so far. It’s lightweight, so if I need to straighten my hair after using it, I know my hair will be fully moisturized without residue or having it weigh my hair down.
“Kinky-Curly Knot Today Leave In Conditioner/Detangler A creamy and herbal conditioner helps you to smooth the cuticles and remove knots, tangles and snarls painlessly. This conditioner helps you to covert a nightmare into a sweet dream. Kinky Curly Knot Today Conditioner is a good herbal product that gives you the liberty to look fashionable.”
My Experience: When I went “natural,” this was the first leave-in conditioner I bought. Like many of you who are on that quest to find the perfect natural hair product, I read a TON of products reviews and was convinced to purchase this one. It was great!! It helped detangle my hair tremendously! That’s when I KNEW leave-in conditioners where the ish!! It’s creamy, smooth and slippery. You can thank the Organic Slippery Elm & Marshmallow Root for that. The only downside of it is, I can go through this bottle in 2 uses!!! SERIOUSLY! I just wish the product was thicker. I thank God for my thick hair, but sometimes it breaks the bank. The bottle is 8 ounces so I’m pretty much using 4 ounces of it each time. Don’t get me wrong, the product is WONDERFUL and a lot of you may not have the same issue. But what you will have is soft, moisturized, shiny and healthy hair after using it.
“Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Extra-Moisture Detangler for dry, damaged hair conditions and smoothes hair with natural botanicals while removing knots and tangles. Restores body, shine and manageability. Made with natural and certified organic ingredients.”
My Experience: I always feel biased when I rave about my favorite products, but I just have to share with you all the best of the BEST!! And this product gives me LIFE!! I fell in LOVE with it after the first use! I apply it right after deep conditioning, while my hair is still really wet and let it hair dry. The product is REALLY thick, so it provides a ton of moisture while sealing in the water that’s left on the hair. You only need a dime size amount, (I use quarter sizes lol) so you will definitely get more bang for your buck, because this product lasts!! I hardly have to worry about having dry hair, because this is my cure. This product is so good that I even wrote a review on it. CLICK HERE to read the full product review.
